About
Heidi Abdelhady MD

Critical Care Continuum founder and principal, Heidi Abdelhady, MD , is a triple board-certified practicing pulmonary and critical care physician, with over two decades of experience in surgical, medical, cardiothoracic (heart/lung transplant, ECMO, VAD), acute pulmonary and virtual critical care.  She’s led highly successful rapid response and code blue teams, whose expertise was leveraged to be proactive, and not only reactive, leading to significant reduction in deterioration of hospitalized patients.  She’s also served clients in the development of their pulmonary embolism response teams at primary hospitals, with education provided to their affiliated hospitals to help recognize and refer patients requiring intervention beyond anticoagulation.

Her experience in academia, community hospitals (teaching and non-teaching) and virtual ICU care give her a unique insight and understanding allowing her to create meaningful and individualized recommendations for clients.  She’s created many firsts, including Baltimore’s first therapeutic hypothermia (now known as targeted temperature management) program, which served as a model for other organization.  This was the beginning of Dr. Abdelhady’s journey in helping other organizations provide excellent, evidence-based care to their patients.

Her broad scope of practice, effective communication skills, administrative and leadership experience are core to developing multidisciplinary teams that deliver high quality, safe, effective, patient centric, organized and streamlined timely care.  Not only does this lead to better patient outcomes, but also affords frontline staff to be empowered to call for and receive help and have a great deal of satisfaction in a job well done.  This is more crucial than ever today given our healthcare staffing crisis.
